Week 14B

This class was all about making more content for my website. I was looking on the kickstarter and noticed so many photos and i wanted to think of a creative way to display them. So I started putting them into illustrator and making a very interesting grid, to lay all the images into circles evenly spaced. 
The main reason I started focusing on content was because I ran into a problem with my code. which in the end was something as simple as forgetting to clove a div in my html.

Week 14 Outside of class

For this week outside of class was spent working on my second style tile. this tile was basically the same with a different color pallet and a different texture. For the most part, I wanted to keep the same font and the same button style. The texture was made different since I wanted to change the feel. Instead of a harsh brick pattern, I went with a more lattice approach. The colors I decided to move down the spectrum and go for more reds and yellows. I think that they look good but I don't know if they would be very effective. Also, I went with the idea of a beveled button, but I don't think that would look right so I think I'm going with a more solid button. 

Week 14A

Today in class I decided to start thinking about what I wanted to have my website layout look like and how I would go about achieving that. So as i first began coding I learned that just placing a div with a colored back ground was the easiest way without going content crazy. 

What I learned was that I couldn't just position a div and I needed to use columns and different containers to do what I wanted. I wasn't able to just move a div all around and I needed to use diffren tags to get things to look correct.

Week 13 Out of Class

For week 13 Outside of class I was focused on the content of the website. First off I realized that the kickstart had no solid png of the logo. So I needed to go out and create one that could work all over the website. The hardest part was when looking at all the different bottles there was a lot of different variations depending on which color bottle you selected.

After discussing this I was told that i could pick whatever color I wanted. So I went with a dark blue, since that was the accent color I wanted to go with also. 

Ultimately I think that the blue was a good choice since it will be something easy to work with and gives it some color without being too overwhelming. 

Week 13A

This class was spent learning how to get the layout down for the upcoming website. This was a little complex knowing that there was a lot to establish before content could be placed. The hardest thing for me to get down was the placement of different divs. In digital theory, I was using divs mainly because by peer mentor told me to. So this semester I realized that I had used the before, but had no idea what they did. So before I could do anything I had to figure everything out.

Week 12 B

Todays class was focused on making style tiles. Style tiles show all the different aspects  of a design before applying them. Some of the things you may include would be textures and the font family you would intend to use.

My first stile tile I decided to go with a very blue design. the reason I went with these colors was to give it a sporty fun feel. Since the 1Day Bottle is more of a sporty design I think that these colors will be the most effective and attention-grabbing. The texture is more of a brick wall gray that I think will give it a good street look. Since a large part of this campaign is on the streets of California. The font choice I went with was the Roboto family, since there is a lot of different variations.

Week 12 Outside of Class

This week we were working on the content of the website, beginning with the text first. This is where we begin to type out exactly what each section should say. We worked on making the wireframes in class so this was now the next step, taking each of the sections an placing the content in the wireframes. this is basically the first step before being able to make the website. Also, another important aspect was to make sure the content was not just copied and pasted from the Kickstarter page.

About-  

The one day bottle was designed for busy people on the go. Sometimes protein drinks can get messy and cause a hassle but with the one day bottle, it makes the process an ease. Week 12A

Today in class we began working on the wireframes for our websites. This involved some whiteboard brainstorming. This was an important step since we could just spread out all the ideas we had. Also, this was done in groups so we could get the feedback from our peers. This was also something interesting since my layout was only in the wireframe stage, I was able to make changes early instead of later. Some important information that I'm including is, contact information, about the product, images of the product, how the mix dispenses. This activity was overall really helpful since I will now be able to reference layout options during the design process.

Week 11 Out of Class

This week in class we really started working on getting into our next project. Which is a Kickstarter campaign That will be turned into a single page website? So this week was all about finalizing our campaign and looking deeper into it. So I began to focus on the 1Day cup. The biggest things I learned overall about this cup is that there really isn't anything like it. there were some cups that played with the same concept but nothing that was as unique as the 1Day cup. The second part of our outside of class work was following pdf documents and coding them following the given directions. The directions had us make an HTML webpage and later link that to a CSS page

After comparing the image above with peers I was sure that I must have messed my code up in some areas. So I went back and began looking for errors. I noticed that most of the errors I made were forgetting to close different tags on my CSS Style Sheet. Its crazy to think to forget to close a few tags really could change your whole page. As soon as I closed them several of the elements appeared.

Week 11A

This class we actually received our next assignment which was about coding. For this project, we are making a single page website for a Kickstarter campaign. some of the campaigns I'm interested in are:

Easy Breezy Food Fan Cooler:
Now, this campaign was really interesting to me since I have witnessed the problem the gadget can solve at hand. This is all about a gadget that is a fan that is placed on hot food and the fan cools the meal down. Now, this is something I can see helping busy parents. I know that giving kids temperature safe food can be hard without having to blow on it to cool it down. but this fan will allow parents to multi-task and be able to have a faster more effective cooling method.

1Day Bottle: 

This is another cool gadget that I have to say is my top pick. this bottle is designed to be able to hold protein to other energy powders. For the most of the day you can consume regular water, but then when you're ready you can push the button and dispense the powder. This is ideal for people who don't want to carry around extra containers for separate components. This bottle allows for the consumer to have water all day long until their ready for their beverage. What I also like about this product is the fact that all the images were seen are for protein powder but it can also contain other mixes such as ice tea powder.

LOONCUP:

This is a product that is designed specifically for women. It is an extension of the new upcoming method of period protection the menstrual cup. But this is no normal menstrual cup this is a smart menstrual cup that links to the user's phone via an app and can run diagnostics of one's period. Not one do I think this is an interesting device on its own but, the development of the app can really help women with period problems. The device can measure how much room is left in the cup, the color and the length of your cycle. 

Week 10 Outside of Class

Outside of class this weekend I worked on finishing my vacation page which consisted of adding more content and finishing the coding for CSS. This was actually fun because I knew what everything meant while coding this time. Recently I didn't really know what half the tags meant I just knew that's what I needed to get the page to look the way I wanted. After coding the vacation page I now have a better understanding. This weekend I also had to watch a video on don't fear the internet and it actually taught me so many things. for one I didn't know that it was possible to set different styles in CSS while using id tags. I have so blown away once  I realized that I could change each h2 different if I needed to.

Week 10 B

This class we really expanded on our vacation page by using CSS. While in Digital theory I used css but only a little bit, and what I did use was me just pasting the code and playing around until I could get it to work. For the most part, I didn't understand what I was doing. Now, After one class of actually watching videos and reading Above the Fold, I've learned what things actually mean. Not only did I learn how important it is to understand what I was coding but, I learned that stealing code really gets you nowhere. Yes, you can get your website to look good and get the project done, but in the end, you really know nothing at all.

Week 10 A

Today in class we went over the beginning of coding an HTML webpage. This class was more of a refresher for me and helped me remember all the things I learned in Digital Theory. This was very helpful since I could now have my memory jogged of all the things I may have forgotten since last semester. The main refresher cam when we made our own vacation page with hand coding. we were allowed to reference w3 schools but for the most part, I was able to code from my memory. another helpful moment in class was when we learned about a website called don't fear the internet. This is a website that has a lot of helpful videos regarding coding and is a source that I can reference when I forget something.
